Question : Disabled Syskey by mistake
Today I was suddenly not being able to login to my windows xp professional system ( I still don't know why, but let's leave that out for the moment). So I used Knoppix-std to reset my administrator password. I was eventually successful, but when I entered with the new password, I encountered the "Activate Windows" dialog. It is then I realized that I had disabled the Syskey by mistake, while using the knoppix-std interface ( stupid me!!!). Anyway, my product key doesn't seem to work now and when I tried activating windows by calling Microsoft support, the changed key that they gave me doesn't work either!!! Is there any way that I can get this to work, or have I done the system some permanent damage?

If you have COA on your computer you should be able to call MS to activiate it for you. they don't support reseting the admin pass, but it is your right to get your copy activated. (same as your hard drive fail and you start new installation.
hope this helps!
