Question : Open File Security Warning issue in XP
I have a user; who for some reason can not run exe files on her local machine. She is the only one having this issue. Later after I tried to run an exe from her computer to see the issue, she was attempting to clear a OPEN FILE SECURITY WARNING dialog box that came up. She cleared the box that says 'DO NOT SHOW THIS AGAIN' and now that exe does not run at all.....
It appears that clearing that checkbox has told the computer that it is unsafe to run that particular exe. I verified this by finding another exe in the same folder, getting the OPEN FILE dialog box, clearing the DONT ASK ME AGAIN box, and sure enough, it locked me out.
Her computer is gradually getting more and more unusable, so short of reformating and reinstalling all the apps, I dont see a fix. I have gone thru all the IE settings and restored back to defualt to no success.....
I have a network of 50 + machines and 4 servers, no GP to talk about, besides she is the only one with this issue. I made sure it was not the AV software by uninstalling it and seeing if the app I was generating the warning with still continued, and it did. filename.exe now will not run either by double clicking or by command line..
This is a doosey, hence the 500 points.....
Anybody ??
