Question : Creating online Tutorials (What software is available for this?)

Hello Experts,

I am trying to develop a nice online tutorial for one of our company web sites.  Does anyone know of a good, easy-to-use, and inexpensive application that will allow me to develop a nice online tutorial.

The idea is to have the user view an index of help or tutorial topics.  The user can select any topic or proceed in a linear fashion through each tutorial.  Each screen will have "screen snapshots", viewable content script, and an audio link to listen while following along he scipted text.  Informative tutorials, like the one Amazon uses (though this would probably out of our price range) is the direction we would like to go in developing this tutorial.

I am still new to developing web pages and could certainly benefit from software that handles much of the intricate coding. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Sounds like you're online tutorial will be similar to an MS Powerpoint presentation.

If you're really new to web coding, you could opt for the easy way out and use MS Office's Powerpoint, or the free equivalent, OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/), to do it for you.

Both of them give you the option of saving your presentation as web pages, so you could put together a fairly content-heavy tutorial quickly with either product. Animations and sounds can be embedded easily within presentations.

Granted, this isn't the 'classic' way to get a web site/tutorial online, but if you want to get something out there while you're still getting some web coding experience, this is one (possibly free) way to do it.
