Question : Attachments take forever to open

When viewing emails on outlook, the emails with attachments take forever to load
the file sizes are nothing bigger than 100 kb

the emails without attachments load right away

what can be done to fix this?

1. Did you delete the files from Temp folder?

2. If no joy, Although Outlook 2003 allows you to use PST file larger than 2GB, using such a large file will slow your access.  Break up the PST file to smaller ones, by years or by subjects.

Create a new PST file.
