Question : McAfee Vshield disables automatically
|
|
I am running McAfee Viruscan 4.0.3a (4040+ DAT) on Windows95. Each time when I start my PC, Vshield (Vshwin32.exe) is supposed to be active. But somehow it's disabled. I have to manually right-click on the shield icon, enable system scan again. After a few days, it is disabled again! I've tried reinstalling. I've checked the Registry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] where Vshwin32.exe was no longer there after it has been disabled. So can anyone explain why Vshield disables by itself? Or give a good remedy? Thanks in advance!

I did not see the following section in the sample default.vsh
This is what controls vshield being enabled or disabled: [General] bEnabled=1 bCanBeDisabled=1 bShowTaskbarIcon=1
Ensure you have it in your default.vsh.
We have also had a very serious problem with vshield where it will cause the workstation to pause and not load systray.exe. This problem was intermittent for us. You may want to check the workstation to ensure systray.exe is running.
