Question : How do I change a normal Gmail account to a redirected (auto forward)?

I have a gmail (POP) email address.  I want to automatically forward this address to another one.  As I understand it, I have to delete the current one before I can redirect it, but then I can't create  it again for 5 days and all my data will be lost including any emails during that time.

Can anyone advise if this is true or there is a way to do it?

Thanks in Advance.

Hello CRB1609,

You wrote, "I have to delete the current one before I can redirect it, but then I can't create  it again for 5 days and all my data will be lost including any emails during that time."

To add to what Michael said, no, you do not have to delet the current address before redirecting the mail.  Gmail will auto forward from your old Gmal account.  Don't delete the account or Gmail will not auto forward.

If you delete the Gmail account, you  will not be able to use the deleted username to create a new account in Gmail again indefinitely.  So it is NOT 5 days.

Hope this helps!
