Question : EventID 1030 + 1058
|
|
Our Domain Controller was orginally Windows 2000 Server Standard. Upgraded to Windows 2003 Standard. And now upgraded to Windows 2003 Standard R2.
I never really paid attention to the USerenv errors before, but now I am noticing that when I make changes to the Group policies, they are never replicated anywhere.
The errors in the event log indicate: Source: Userenv EventID: 1058 Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=zelos,DC=inside. The file must be present at the location <\\zelos.inside\sysvol\zelos.inside\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini>. (Access is denied. ). Group Policy processing aborted.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at ...
Source: Userenv EventID:1030
Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. Check the event log for possible messages previously logged by the policy engine that describes the reason for this.
the file gpt.ini does exist.

Answer : EventID 1030 + 1058

OK, it looks like some replication issues that may get resolved once the other server is back online.
There is also a Time error. If you have this server setup to sync with an Internet time source, you have to correct the reason it's failing. It could be a port being blocked at your firewall or that the external server won't accept your request for sync.
Make sure that the time zone and daylight savings time settings are the same on the server and clients and that the clocks are not more than 5 minutes off (the closer, the better).
