Question : Detecting Proxy Settings
I am using Windows ME with a broadband modem and it works fine except for the fact that every 10 minutes or so, the browser freezes while it is detecting proxy settings and this is usually a 2 minute process. It should only take a couple seconds, but it takes forever with this for some reason. The network settings must be dynamic, it will work no other way, but there has to be some reason it takes so long to detect the proxy settings.

In internet explorer properties (assuming its IE, not netscape), goto the connections tab, lan settings, uncheck the autoconfigure box. this is different from auto configuring tcp/ip settings and wont affect your isp service.
