Question : Windows mobile 5 remote connection to AS400
My company just purchased cingular 8125 telephones with Windows Mobile 5. We want to be able to create a connection to the AS400. I can not figure out how to make the remote connection so the username and password are passed to the 400. We have terminal emulation software but we need to make the initial remote connection

If you're trying to get your WM5/WM6 phone to "dial" a modem on the as/400 (regardless of whether it is an SNA connection or IP via PPP) I don't believe you're going to have much luck getting this to work. While Mochasoft does make a version of their software that runs on WM5/WM6, it requires an IP connection to the AS/400 over the internet. So to get this working you will need to either have VPN software on your phone that will tunnel into your network (and thus allow you IP access to the 400 via IP), or give the AS/400 an outside public IP address and allow 5250 access from a particular subnet range.
Please understand, however, that taking option #2 (while some people do this) is not secure and any information exchanged between your phone and the 400 (including your user name and password) is completely in the clear and is unsecure.
