Question : USb 2 only operating as USB 1???
|
|
Hi everyone. I recently built an AMD based PC. M/B ASUS M2N SLI Delux CPU AMD AM 5000 X2 2 GIG DDR 800 WIN XP Pro
When I connect or use a USB device, the pop up window in the bottom Right corner of the screen displays info to the effect that the device can work faster if I run it as USB 2 (or words to that effect). It leads me to believe that I'm working in USB 1 mode, even though I have all new gear, and I understand all relevant drivers are installed (Driver Detective does highlight that a USB controller has no driver installed, although I can't identify the device. Here are the data that it returns: VID 10DE, PID 036D, SID CB8410DE. When I go to Device Manager, all looks fine, except in the area of OTHER; It has yellow question marks against the following items: USB Controller, Unknown Device, HOTAS Cougar data in and out (I'll get on the joy stick drivers). Is the USB message just some weird default message, or do you think I'm missing some driver? If so, suggestions on how or what to download and where? Any advice would be appreciated, and thanks for your time.
Best wishes all.
Ken.

Some things to try : do you see your disk in the bios? - is it listed during bootup? (disable quick boot in the bios) try booting from bartPe, and check if it finds your drive try erd commander : http://www.winternals.com/Products/AdministratorsPak/Default.aspx
