Question : RPC service appears to hang the logon process
|
|
OK, I have points and am not afraid to use them... I have searched around and have yet to find an acceptable solution to this one.
XP Pro, SP2 running on a Lenovo R52 notebook.
When logging on using local admin (or a cached account) the login process hangs. If I wait long enough, Explorer will finally run but it is SLOOOOOWWWW. If I kill the svchost running RPC, everything speeds up and runs.
This is the second one in as many days. In this case, there have been NO patches or other software installed between the time it was working and when it broke.
I'm willing to try anything short of destroying hardware, though I have considered that too.
