Question : Fixing Audio-Video sync problems

My original files have the AVI extension. Using Nero I have encoded them as VCD or  DVD-video so as to view on my TV.
This has been successful in a general sense but some of my results have been plagued by audio-video sync errors.
I'd be very grateful for any suggestions as to what programs I need to correct/prevent these errors. Also, any tips on how to go about it!
I am running XP Pro with two DVD drives and my TV uses the PAL format.

That mean you don't have the necessary codec, probably xvid.

To solve the video audio syncing problem, I recommend demultiplex the audio part using virtualdub (Save Wav), and process it with another tool. This is hapening probably because the audio is mp3 VBR.
