Question : Forward Lookup Zone Help
|
|
Forward Lookup Zone to DNS server outside of our SBS 2003 Domain I need step-by-step procedure to set this up
Our server is using LAN IP address 10.121.50.10 and I've setup a route to the network subnet and can ping the DNS server I need the forward lookup zone.
Any help here will be much appreciated. Thanks.

What you did will work, for sure. But it's not a secure configuration by any means.
This is a brief article that touches on some of the issues: http://redmondmag.com/columns/article.asp?editorialsid=1655
You would be much better off using a stub zone, but since I really don't have any idea what type of applications are running on these remote servers and thus what type of traffic would be flowing, I can't tell you much more. (In addition to the fact -- as I've already stated -- that routing is absolutely not my forte).
If these other servers are in a different domain, and they let you transfer the DNS zone down to the SBS then I'd also be curious about the security of those servers.
