Question : DHCP on Windows 2003 Server

I have a linksys router/firewall with DHCP enabled.  I also have a Windows 2003 server with AD and DNS configured.  I wanted to enable DHCP on the server and disable from router.  But when I do so, I do not get any IP address from the server.  No DNS and nothing.

Answer : DHCP on Windows 2003 Server

You need to make sure that the DHCP options specify the default gateway(router) and the preferred DNS server. You should not need to reboot the DC but the laptop will not get an IP from the Windows DHCP until
1. You disable DHCP on the router
2. You either reboot the laptop or issue the
 ipconfig /renew
command from the command line.
