Question : Restore points don't work in Vista or XP

What are the reasons restore points don't work? It happens often in both Vista and XP on various of my customer's PC's.

Finally(& once again), Malware (& often a Trojan) can certainly knock out System Restore circuits!

An occasional hard disk error check by your users could prove useful in future.

And particularly in the case of Vista, they could try starting SR in safe mode (taping f8).  May well have a better chance of it working from there (no Startup apps to interupt the process).
