Question : NTbackups are failing and produce 4 event 6013 errors each time
|
|
On one of my domain controllers (Windows server 2003) backups are failing for 2 jobs that I am trying to run in the evenings. One job covers our users' home directories on the machine and the other is a full system backup including the system state. When the backups fail the event viewer shows 4 error with the event id of 6013 from the source: VSS. This is the description I get in the error.......
Sqllib error: OLEDB Error encountered calling IDBInitialize::Initialize. hr = 0x80040e4d. SQLSTATE: 42000, Native Error: 18456 Error state: 1, Severity: 14 Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server Error message: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM'.
I appreciate any help at all on this and humbly look forward to a response.

go here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919023
basically it's telling you to do this but there's more info that is good as well.
"To avoid this error message, make sure that you assign the correct permissions to the account in SQL Server. For example, add this account to the db_datareader database role in the master database."
