Question : GIMP vs PSP vs PhotoShop
|
|
"Oh great, another debate-opener...."
Actually I'm just wondering whether anyone knows where I can find a feature comparison chart for the Gimp, Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop?
Given the amount of recommendation the GIMP gets on this site (albeit influenced by its price) I'd like to know how these contenders compare. I use PSP7 currently, and have experience with PS7, but haven't the time (or cash) to sit and test all the latest versions out...!

Ahhhh, that's a tough call. I would say GIMP for now, although many people can't live without PSP's tubes. Also it's worth considering that PSP has been acquired by Corel recently and the next version will include, no doubt, some of the punch power Corel put into PhotoPaint. PhotoPaint is very powerful and it has the ability to produce art for print. My believe is that Corel will add that power to PSP and phase PhotoPaint out. We'll have to see about that. While you wait I'd say The GIMP; but then again, if you're working graphics for print The GIMP won't make it. So, what to do? I'd suggest that you skip PSP7 and wait for v.8 and stick to what you have for now. Later, when PSP8 is released with the added features you'll be able to make a better comparison between it and Photoshop CS2... or 3 :o)
Good Vibes!
