Question : microsoft, exchange, 2007, one domain name for email for internal and external access
|
|
So I have the same issue as a number of folks in regards to Exchange/outlook 2007 and ssl. I have been reading and trying to understand Sembee's article on exchange 2007 and ssl http://www.sembee.co.uk/archive/2007/01/21/34.aspx . Please forgive me as I am feeling downtrodden and a bit thick about all of this. This is a summary of my efforts to understand:
I have my external mail setup and working fine on exchange 2007 at mail.domain.com. I have a trusted Certificate assigned to the default website. Internally, Outlook 2007 complains about the name not matching the certificate. According to sembee, I need to setup a second ip/website and move the external connections to this website. I then need to use the self signed certificate on the internal/default website. Question no 1- I've already assigned the Thawte cert to the internal default site. How do I get the Exchange Self Signed cert back onto it.
According to sembee's article I also need to fix autodiscover. Question no 2 - I have one domain for internal and external mail. Do I need to setup an additonal website an external autodiscover site? Can use my existing Thawte cert for this new autodiscover site or do I need to buy another cert?
Question no 3 - I did an nslookup for autodiscover.domain.com and it does not exist. What dns (internal and external) stuff do I need to do?
I appeciate all you work and knowledge to date everyone.
regards, flo from TO
