Question : How to clone a laptop SATA HDD with an external SATA HDD connected via USB?

I have Ghost Version 8.2.  According to the Symantec Support site, it should recognize an external HDD.  Unfortunately, it doesn't for me.  I have a Toshiba Tecra laptop with a 60GB SATA drive.  I purchased a 160GB SATA drive and an external SATA to USB adapter to connect to my laptop.

In Ghost, I did the boot wizard and selected the USB, All drivers option.  I then created a bootable CD.  When I use this, and then go into Ghost, it tells me I can't do a disk-to-disk because there is only one disk.  If I boot windows and attached the drive, Windows does see it.

Any suggestions on how to do this?  Thanks!

I have only ever done this from a desktop. I don't like ghost, as it doesn't give you complete access. I use Acronis. However, USB HD adaptors usually have trouble being recognised as a 'normal' disc anyway.
Acronis will allow you to boot from CD; copy drive contents to wherever. Then, you can install the new HD, boot from the CD, and copy back. Haven't ever tried directly, as USB interface always causes stuff ups for me.
    Hope that helps.
