I recently had a massive SNAFU with a workstation that I had to rebuild after an attempt to upgrade to SP2 corrupted some files. Anyway, after the reinstall, I had the computer unprotected for a few minutes before I got AV software installed. Now I'm seeing that the program lmhost.exe, which appears to be a valid windows process (I've never used it before), refuses to go away. I've tried editing the registry entries calling it on startup, but it still comes up whenever I reboot. It ends up chewing about 95% of the available memory, and the first thing SP2 did was block it's traffic with the builtin firewall. Anyone have an idea what's going on here? I've never noticed this lmhost.exe before, and I've certainly never noticed a file that refuses to stop loading. It seems rather suspicious, but I haven't found any warnings elsewhere.
