Question : Logon failure: the target account name is incorrect Can not connect to AD
I am getting the following error on a Server 2003 running Exchange 2003:
logon failure: the target account name is incorrect
Exchange services are running but no mail is being delivered to the clients mailboxes on that server
I have read several questions and answers on this and one of the regular fixes seems to be to take it off the domain (after running dcpromo) then adding it again. With this error however it will not allow DC promo since it will not connect to the AD controller.
Event viewer has lots of Windows cannot bind to
(local error). Group policy processing aborted.
Another irregularity is that when you try and connect to the server via mstsc with a valid admin level account it will not let you connect, it gives an access denied error.
Answer : Logon failure: the target account name is incorrect Can not connect to AD
