Question : How to install Firefox on Tiger

I have OSX 10.4.5
I downloaded Firefox
On my desktop is Firefox 1.5.0.1.dmg
Each time I want to use it, I have to click on that file and install the app.
(Even though Firefox is in Recent Items, clicking it does not bring it up.)

How do I install it "permanently" on the system?

Thanks for help.  It's very inefficient this way.

Answer : How to install Firefox on Tiger

I think the problem is that you are not dragging the application icon to the Applications folder - what you've downloaded is a disk image which is closed every time you shut down. The Recent Items icon is pointing to the copy in the disk image.

Mount and open the disk image again, then choose Show Toolbar from the View menu, then drag the FireFox icon onto the Applications icon at the left of the window. Then eject the disk image icon, open Applications again, and drag the FireFox icon in Applications to the Dock, or hold down Option and Command (Apple) while dragging it to the Desktop to make an alias there.

Hope that's of use
