Question : Can't get IIS to run on Win2K
|
|
I'm not familiar with IIS nor Win2K, this is a new installation on a new PC with quad boot (Win98, Win2K, WinXP, and Linux Mandrake). I've regularly used PWS on Win98 before. I've tried removing IIS and reinstalling, through Windows add/remove option, without any change.
In Administrative Tools I have 2 icons 'Internet Service Manager' and 'Personal Web Manager'. In the IIS console the default FTP, Web site, and Virtual server appear as '(stopped'). If I attempt to start the website after sometime a message says 'The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.' Event Viewer says 'The specified module could not be found'. In Personal Web Manager the under Main the button says 'Stop' (ie not Start).
I also have a 1-way satellite system installed which required certain local proxy settings to be changed.

I have recently read on the satellite providers forum that this problem is indeed caused by the satellite software installation. I would therefore like to delete this question please.
