Question : Crashing server

Our windows 2000 server has crashed twice in 4 days and re-booted itself. Here's the message I get from the dmp file it creates. Both have been identical.
Executable search path is: ********************************************************************* * Symbols can not be loaded because symbol path is not initialized. * * * * The Symbol Path can be set by: * * using the _NT_SYMBOL_PATH environment variable. * * using the -y argument when starting the debugger. * * using .sympath and .sympath+ * ********************************************************************* Unable to load image ntoskrnl.exe, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for ntoskrnl.exe *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for ntoskrnl.exe Windows 2000 Kernel Version 2195 (Service Pack 4) MP (2 procs) Free x86 compatible Kernel base = 0x80400000 PsLoadedModuleList = 0x80485b80 Debug session time: Mon Apr 14 11:06:06.914 2008 (GMT-7) System Uptime: not available ********************************************************************* * Symbols can not be loaded because symbol path is not initialized. * * * * The Symbol Path can be set by: * * using the _NT_SYMBOL_PATH environment variable. * * using the -y argument when starting the debugger. * * using .sympath and .sympath+ * ********************************************************************* WaitForEvent failed

Answer : Crashing server

On your Windows 2000 Server, I recommend disabling "automatic restart" to help collect more information. Right-click on My Computer, select Properties. Then click on the Advanced Tab. In the Startup and Recovery area, click on the Settings button. Uncheck the "Automatically restart" box.
Then, when you get an error (e.g. a BSOD), you can collect this information.
You may want to re-enable this if you want the server to restart itself after hours.
