Question : problem restoring data from a media tape using Symantec Backup Exec 11

Hi there,

I am trying to restore data from a mediat tape whilst using Symantec Backup Exec version 11 and I get the following error:

Job ended: 06 September 2007 at 20:18:53
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000848c - Unable to attach to a resource.  Make sure that all selected resources exist and are online, and then try again.
Final error category: Resource Errors

Basically, a new server has been installed and we are just trying to restore the data from this tape, any ideas as to why we are having this problem..?? I thought after cataloguing the tape you should just be able to restore from it....  

Any help here would be greatly received!!!

Is there a firewall on the remote server or a firewall in between the servers that is blocking traffic on port 10000 (Backup Exec uses this as the primary communications port)?  You can test whether it's open or not by opening a command prompt and typing "telnet servername 10000" (no quotes).

Also, once the credential issue is worked out, even if the server names do not match, you can use the File Redirection tab in the job's setup page to restore to another server.
