Question : Backup Exec job priorities
What is the best way to handle a month end job that "should" run in place of a daily job.
We are running backup to disk, and run daily jobs Mon, Tue, Wed, Thr.
We also have Fri 1, Fri 2, Fri 3 and Fri 4. I run to schedule a few month end jobs... that would run in place of the daily.
Right now all jobs run once a day at the same time. I can adjust priorities so the Month end will run BEFORE the Daily starts... but when the Month End job ends... the daily wants to start.
Are there any properties I can set so that only the higher priority job for that time slot runs?
i.e. on the last day of the month, the month end ONLY runs.
Answer : Backup Exec job priorities
You should use Policies. Add both month-end and daily job to the same policy as two different backup templates. Then define a policy rule that indicates that "when start times conflict, month end jobs supersedes the daily job".
