Question : Vista Laptop will not reconnect to server after disconnect error received
|
|
HP Tablet Notebook with Windows Vista Business connects to server via VPN then disconnects after variable times. "Would you like to reconnect window pops up". We click yes and then after 3 attempts we receive the "Maybe unreachable or Security Parameters may not be configured properly fo this connection. Error 800"
This error and issue are received regardless of LAN or Wireless connection.
We can reconnect to server after we shut down for an hour or two then reboot.
Basic Information on this Laptop set up. Device Name: WAN miniport (pptp) Device Type: vpn Server Type: ppp Transports: TCP/IP Authentication: MS CHAP v2 Encryption: MPPE 128 Compression: MPPC PPP Multilink Framing: On Server IPv4 - Address Client IPv4 - Address
Network Connection Details Connection-Specific: DN DHCP Enabled: No Net BIOS over TCPipen..... Yes
The firewall is disabled as well. We are at a loss, any help or advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

1. Create parameter DWORD "TcpNumConnections" in registry HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\ with quite large number (don't think it working, in XP this parameter doesn't working but listed in documentation) 2. Run "ipconfig /flushdns" from command line 3. Turn off "auto tuning". Run "netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled" from command line 4. Uncheck IPv6 protocol in network connection properties 5. Uncheck all "Link..." in network connection properties 6. Disable/Enable Network connection 7. Disable all other network connections 8. Disable/Enable Network connection again 9. Restart "Network Connections" service --
For Wireless - changing Channels from the default has been successful.

Make sure the Tablet has the most current version of the WiFi card or LAN card drivers. Yeah may need to get them from the source of the manufacturer instead of HP.
--- Please note that Service Pack 1 release candidate is out. It solves a whole host of issues and the Final release will be in February.
