Question : Oracle 11g Installation on VMWare

Experts,

After many challenging installs of Oracle 11g on Linux, my company decided to go with MS Server 2003. Someone here installed and configured the system in about two hours. It took us about two weeks with Linux. I'm wondering if there are any known issues with Oracle 11g on MS Server 2003\VMware? Are there any post installation issues that we should be aware of? The install on Windows was so less painful! Besides that, are there other benefits to having Oracle 11g installed on MS Server 2003 than Linux Red Hat 5?

Thanks, MissyMadi

Answer : Oracle 11g Installation on VMWare

No. Instances should be known to the listener.
Often they are unknown. To fix you have to force the static registration.
In LISTENER:ORA file you have to put special lines.
I have posted hundreds time how to do this, so using the search machine you
will find the explanation.

For installation on Linux one has to train and to investigate many things to go smoothly through.
