Question : How I restore the system (Mac OS 10.2) back to day one?
I am a Windows person I currently use Windows XP. I've been given a Mac. From what I can gather there is OS 9 and OS 10 on the computer because I have the option to boot from either one. What I want to do is restore everything back to day one. Is that possible?
There are lot of old files on the computer -- the old user could care less about so blowing them off of the hard drive is not a problem. I have the software restore CDs ,the Mac OS 10 install disks and the Apple hardware test CD.
I would like to wipe the hardware and software slate clean so that I can give the computer to a deserving individual.
Can someone tell me what the steps I need to follow? Or can someone point me to a site that gives clear steps on how to follow through with this procedure?
Thanks!
Answer : How I restore the system (Mac OS 10.2) back to day one?
I discovered on the Software Restore discs has version 9.x of the Mac OS. I installed OS 9x right under OS X without any problems. I think that is the way to do it since you can't install what is on the restore discs as bootable.
