Question : chkdsk access denied
|
|
I use Windows ME on my laptop. When I had a problem, a technician said to open a DOS window and type chkdsk. He was dumbfounded when DOS responded "access denied"--also when I did it direct from c:\. I'm not on a network or anything. Any idea why this is happening and how to cure it? Thanks!

Possibly someone has set up a policy on the laptop refusing access. Chdksk if you run it will recommend running scandisk instead.
Why not try scandisk instead?
One other possibility. Run a virus scanner over your system. There is one that flashes up a similar message. See
