Question : Windows 7 Explorer.exe runas not working

On windows XP i used to be able to use the RUNAS command to open a new instance of windows explorer with my administrative network credentials, under windows 7 this no longer works. Using SHIFT+right click and using the runas does not open a new instance of explorer.

how do i do this under win7?

Answer : Windows 7 Explorer.exe runas not working

Try just running cmd.exe instead of doing explorer.exe, and launch your admin tools from there. Explorer doesnt like to run under different accounts, in multiple instances.... Seen it work a handful of times, but more often that not, just doesnt work that way....

Also, go to your Services and make sure that Secondary Logon Service is not disabled....

Dont think it affects the DOS based 'runas', but worth mentioning.....
