Question : Domain of sender address [email protected] does not exist

I have just setup my exchange server. I have a *.local internal address and a *.sch.uk external address. I added the @xxx.sch.uk as a recipient policy and set it as default. Then, I could not send mail internally. I changed the default to the @xxx.local and internal mail worked fine.

From home I tried to send a mail using OWA and got the following error.

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

  Fred Smith on 17/03/2006 22:26
The e-mail address could not be found. Perhaps the recipient moved to a different e-mail organization, or there was a mistake in the address. Check the address and try again.
  #5.1.8 smtp;553 5.1.8 ... Domain of sender address [email protected] not exist>

I assume that if i change the default policy the external will work but not the internal! Is this a relaying issue and if so where should i enter what value..

Thanks as always,

CJ

Answer : Domain of sender address [email protected] does not exist

I am always nervous when recommending the ADModify tool as a mistake with it could wreak some havoc....

This tool will allow you to make bulk changes, and it is a pretty good tool.
