Question : Restore SQL .DAT back-up
We have a SQL 2000 database that runs an hourly back-up which produces a .DAT file. I would like to send this file to a vendor so that he can load it into his SQL database and see our data/tables. How does he restore this this file to his database server?
Answer : Restore SQL .DAT back-up
IF it is truly just an SQL Backup file that happens to have a .dat extension, then all they have to do is a simple 'restore'. This assumes they have sql server 2000 (or newer).
