Question : RtvScan.exe high cpu

I am running windows 2003 server and Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 8 - everything is up-to-date.
Only recently has rtvscan.exe been slowing the machine down - in particular when I start up the Jrun Server.
I think it only started happening after some windows or symantec software updates.
rtvscan.exe just keep taking up about 30%+cpu and doesn't go down until I disable real-time protection.
PS. this is not a production server, its a development server, just thought I'd mention before I get "You shouldn't be running a virus scan on a live server ;-)"
