I then got offline tried going through windows explorer and deleting it that did not work access was denied... i then tried checking the properties of it whiich mcafee came up asking to clean stop exclude and so forth asked it to clean siad it could not do it asked it to delete it said it could not do it i then went into safe mode and went into the c:\windows\system directory and I was able to right click on the file and select delete i then went into the recycle bin and delete since then
scandisk freezes, mcafee anti virus freezes, Defrag freezes,
everything is running extremely slow the hard drive is alsmost constantly running and the cursor is very jittery now moving slowly it is almost like i have very low system resources or like the hard drive cache is full...

Turn your mouse over and look at the label - does it have a brand and model? If so, post it and I'll post back a link to the download.
The Pavillion 3100 support center is on the web at http://www.hp.com/cposupport/prodhome/pv3100.html They don't have mouse drivers there which make me think that it came with a regular comercial mouse like a Logitech or Microsoft mouse rather than some OEM HP mouse.
Alternatively, the HP site does mention that before they shipped the 3100 series machines they created an image of it on CD and included it in software packs you got with the machine. If you haven't changed the mouse hardware, look through the software that came with the HP and pull out either the mouse driver software (probably diskettes) or the HP image CD. You'll be able to reinstall from either of those.
