Question : HELP! Cannot mount mail store after rebuild Exchange 2000 Server

Thanks to a crash of 2 disks of our RAID-5 array, we had to rebuild our Exchange server.
As documented, we reinstalled W2K server (same partitions), added it to a workgroup & reinstalled the applications (not E2K). Next we restored the Systems state, installed E2K in recovery mode (and Exchange SP3 also in recovery mode). Finally we restored the Mailstore Databases. So far, so good, but when we tried to mount the mailstore we received the error:

"An internal processing error has occured. Try restarting the Exchange System Manager or the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service, or both.

In the Event Log, we receive the following errors:

The Active Directory DC Server remained untouched. After restoring the system state we noticed, we noticed we couldn't logon to the machine anymore (not local, not to the domain). So we had to reset the local administrator password (through one of those linux based tools) and remove/add the machine to the domain to be able to logon again. Maybe this has sth. to do with our troubles??

Any ideas on this one? Greatly appreciated.
