Question : Reader 8.0 default reader in IE7 with multiple Adobe installs
|
|
have both Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional and Reader 8 installed on my PC.
I am having problems with both of these living peacfully with each other.
I need 6.0 pro in order to create PDF's. 8- well, its nice to have the newest to read other pdf's.
My current issue. I had a problem and so re-installed 6.0 pro.
Now, when i try to open a pdf in IE7, 6.0 opens (I want 8)
How can I make 8.0 the default PDF reader?
really what I want to do is bypass 6 (not sure how it got 'reassociated' with opening PDF... well, actually do after last re-install!....

Hello scbdpm,
In Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options > File Types. Scroll down to PDF extension. Click Open With and select Adobe Acrobat Reader 8. Click OK. Restart the computer.
You can uninstall and then reinstall Acrobat Reader 8. Then it will be the default program for PDF file.
Hope this helps! war1
