Question : CPU at 100%

Will be working on XP when everything bogs down, no response. Open Task Manager and CPU Usage @ 100% regardless of whats running in the tray or on the desktop. Have to manually shut down then restart. What's the deal?

Hmm, could me a device driver from another program doing it. Since the error started, have you changed anything on the computer that may have led up to the problem? Try doing a system restore to an earlier date. That might help, of course you might have to reinstall some apps though. try disabling some things by going to Start->Run and type

msconfig

and disable any programs that are potential threats (or all of them) and eliminate each program one by one with restarts of the computer in between to see which one causes the fluctuation in the CPU speed.
