Question : How Do I Restore Group Policy back to default in Windows XP Pro?
I inherited computers from an old tech. I remove the computer from the domain, but the group policies are still inherited from when the computer was on the domain. How can I restore the XP machine back to the default settings?
Answer : How Do I Restore Group Policy back to default in Windows XP Pro?
Reinstall is the only way, AFAIK. Either that or go through each GPO seperatly & reverse out the settings. When GPOs are applied, they alter the registry. Removing the GPO does not restore the registry back, nor does removing the machine from the domain. IMHO if you are trying to "rebirth" a PC that has been used as a workstation in a corporate environement you are best off reinstalling anyway.
