Question : Real-time video processing

Hi,
Can I load a video into flash (flv format) and convert it into monochrome (ie only one colour, e.g. black-n-white), and increase the contrast so that it ends up looking like line drawing when playing in the flash player? I don't need to touch the original video but only to show the effects when playing it.

If I cannot do that with flash in real-time, is there any software can be installed in the server to do the above things in background?

thanks very much.

Answer : Real-time video processing

How much $ do you have to invest in this?

Consider YouTube.  They allow a maximum of 1 GB, which will take a while to upload.  The videos there are small and of low quality because video files are very large.  Is this the type of video people will be uploading to you?  If you are expecting high quality, you have some issues.   DV comes in at 12.5 GB/hour, so one minute of DV is about 208 MB for full res.  YouTube would allow about 5 minutes of DV quality video, not too bad, but not a lot.

A few apps to look at are:

FreeFrame      http://freeframe.sourceforge.net/
EffecTV         http://effectv.sourceforge.net/
Blaze Media Pro    http://www.blazemp.com/
virtualdub (I don't know this at all)

You can search for terms like "batch video processing OR effects" or "real time video effects".
