Question : eAcceleration STOPSIGN removal
|
|
Ran Registry First Aide on a winXP Home installation. Rebooted and noted a new program had installed itself called STOP-SIGN. The program immediately wanted to run a system scan for adware-viruses ect. I opted out of the scan and closed the program. Could not find uninstallers anywhere. Found the support site for STOP-SIGN and found an uninstaller. Downloaded and ran the uninstaller and the program vanished from the programs list and desktop. Deleted all folders related to the program. Rebooted and the STOP-SIGN program returned fully. Tried running the uninstaller in safe-mode...same result. I installed and ran SpyBot and Adaware. They found and cleaned the program only until I reboot. Then STOP-SIGN returns. STOP-SIGN Program only goes dormant when I backdate XP to the time before I ran the Registry First Aide program. Called the STOP-SIGN company as they now appear to be a legitimate company. They said the version installed is a version they no longer deploy and were stumped as to the uninstaller not working.
I am stumped...this STOP SIGN is impossible to remove....
Thank you in advance..

I'm trying to see if McAfee will issue me with some custom DATs to remove the old Stop-Sign.....it seems that people have stopped detecting it as they've cleaned up their act, but still loads of old software is lying about
Thanks Si
