Question : Get the process id and exe filename and path of an active window in XP
|
|
how can you get the process id and exe filename/path of an active window in Windows XP ? Is there a utility that could show this or do I have to program this in VB ?
Each time I start window, I have an Bell Sympatico installation window requesting the install CD and I can't figure out which process it could be amongst all the ones running at that time. Getting its exe path and filename would help me find it in the startup and try to get rid of it.
Thanks.

Do you have Spy++, load it when the dialog is up. Use Ctrl-F to open the find window dialog and then drag the window finder on top of the dialog in question. It will give you the process it that you then use in Procexplorer to kill it or get additional information.
