Question : How do I change a domain client computer name without  rejoining domain or loosing the ability for users to login and see there current local profiles

Hey guys,

I have serval computer on my domain that I am now managing that do not meet the computer naming standards that our copmany has implemented.  Our server are all Windows 2003 server standard and all clients are now windows xp pro sp3.  I am hoping there is a way to rename the computers (all laptops) that are currently connected to the domain without having to transfer local profiles or create confusion on users side.

Just rename them, the users can still login (if not forbidden via logon rights at the AD user object level). You won't need to rejoin the domain. But don't forget to update DNS if the IPs are static.
