Question : eSATA Limitations?

Hi everyone;

I am backing up my computer using a Norton Ghost boot disk.  I have one internal SATA drive that I clone to an external SATA drive.  The external drive connects through external SATA (eSATA) and is only connected when I perform a backup.  This has always worked flawlessly.

Recently I had to swap out my motherboard.  Now I am unable to clone.  Norton Ghost gives me errors reading the external (eSATA) destiantion drive.

When I pull the destination drive out of it's enclosure and connect it directly to the SATA port on the motherboard I am able to clone with no problems.  This leads me to believe the problem is with the eSATA connection.

Are there any settings or features on the new motherboard that might not work correctly with eSATA?  The controller supports SATA and SATA 2.

Answer : eSATA Limitations?

I have discovered the solution.  I removed the external hard drive from it's enclosure and put a jumper on it to force it to SATA 150 mode.  This solved the problem.
