Question : error message when opening files says cant open may be read only or encrypted

Ok i try to open an Excel file and it says "Excel can not access _____(filename)___.xls may be read only or encrypted" and an OK button if you click ok it pops up another message that says "Can not Access" If I shut down and reboot the computer I can get into the file again a time or two and then I start getting the message again. I havent changed anything except quickbooks updated to 2007 a few days ago but this just started happening today. I am using win xp pro.
