Question : Installing Media Center on custom built machine and prompts for SP2 disc during install

I have a custom built machine with the following specs, AMD 64 x2 dual core 4000+ Processor, 4GB RAM, 500gb hard drive, GeForce XFX 8800 Video Card, ECS KN3 SLI2 motherboard and wanting media center installed.  I have an oem copy new of media center.  When I start loading the OS it formats, continues to installing XP and when it gets to 36 minutes remaining it prompts for Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 Disc.  I put the updates disc in the drive and press continue.  It prompts incorrect disc.  I can press cancel and it will continue the install but when it boots there are no media center icons and when you attmept to install media player 11 it gives the error must have media center 2005 or better to be able to install the version.  Please help and let me know if my hardware is not compatible or if my discs may be corrupt.  Thanks in advance!!!

Answer : Installing Media Center on custom built machine and prompts for SP2 disc during install

... just looked at my copy:  The 3rd disc is labeled "WinXP MCE Update 2"

That is NOT used during the installation.

The two installation discs are:

(1)   "WinXP MCE 2005 CD 1"  (THIS is the disc the message you asked about is referring to)

and

(2)  "WinXP MCE 2005 CD 2"
