Question : Crop a drawing along a curved line
|
|
How can I crop a drawing on one side, along a curved line ? (the common way technical drawings get a cut off, when there is more to it, but not enough space).
I created the drawing in Visio, but I can export it to Illustrator, or anything else...

Campinas,
You can't crop along a curved line. All digital image formats are square in nature (although objects can be other shapes), and cropping is defining the location of the outer boundaries of the image, so it may only be square. If you need the appearance of a non-straight cutoff, draw your curving boundary with a mask tool (depending on the program you are working in), and then color the area between your curved boundary and the straight edge of the image in the same color as your document background. Note that that area will still exist, so it may cover other objects if you are placing this image in another document, etc., but in some cases you can use a format such as PNG or GIF which support transparency to get around that.
