Question : Outlook Public folder calendar as a resource for scheduling meetings from users Outlook
|
|
There has been some discussion and demand to have our conference rooms available as a resource that can be used when creating meetings within Outlook and the possibilities in the ability to check conf. room availability and reservation when scheduling meetings from a single "invite".
We have Outlook 2003 and Exchange Server 2003. How can this be done?
Thanks, Jo

Using a public folder calendar the only option is to manually access the calendar and post meetings, etc. - this is because public folder calendar's are not published in the free//busy folder so you can't do any advanced scheduling such as invites, automatically accept/book meetings, etc.
It sounds like your best bet is to create a mailbox for each resource you want Exchange to manage; here's a decent article that discusses it (near the bottom...section named "Email Accounts"): http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Booking-Resources-ExchangeServer-2003-Outlook-System-2003.html
