Question : Relaying denied
|
|
Recently, users have been getting a lot of bounce messages related to relaying of their messages. I have been unable to determine the cause of these messages. I'm running Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 server, GFI Mail Essentials and Mail Security for spam and anti-virus. It almost appears from the messages that the mail server is trying to relay the messages through outside servers instead of delivering them in a normal manner. Some of the bounce back messages are as follows:
#5.5.0 smtp;550-EarthLink does not recognize your computer (my exchange server IP) as connecting from an EarthLink connection.
#5.5.0 smtp;553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)
#5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 n.com>... Relaying denied. Please check your mail first or restart your mail session.
#5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for outside.user@outsidedomain.com
#5.5.0 smtp;550 Invalid domain mydomain.com
#5.5.0 smtp;550 n.com>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in relay recipient table
#5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 n.com>... Relaying denied
#5.5.0 smtp;554 n.com>: Relay access denied
#5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 n.com>... Relaying denied. Proper authentication required.
#5.5.0 smtp;553 SMTP Relaying Denied: Visit http://www.error-553.net for more info.
I've checked my IP against DNS blacklist, I've turned off all GFI services, and I've called Microsoft to open an incident, but so far all the tech has done is play around with GFI's smtp event sinks with no success. Going on 3 days now and I'm tired of waiting on him to fix it so I'm looking to everyone here hoping for some kind of answer.
