Question : OWA in Exchange 2K3 & W2K3, SSL Certificate, Inheritance overrides

Have been following the CYA Securing Exchange Server 2003 and Outlook Web Access book Chapter 5 "Securing the Outlook Web Access Server".

Have successfully requested, received and installed a certificate for my Default Web Site, however when I went to require SSL on my Default Web Site I was presented with a dialog box regarding inheritance overrides. Specifically I am being asked:

The following child nodes also define the value of the "UNCPasword" property, which overrides the value you have just set. Please select from the list below those nodes which should use the new value.

Exadmin
Exchange
Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
OMA
Public

My question is should I select all, some or none?

Thank you,

Mike

Answer : OWA in Exchange 2K3 & W2K3, SSL Certificate, Inheritance overrides

Select none.

I have seen this more and more often with servers that are running Exchange 2003 SP1.

From what I can tell this is a bogus issue and has to do with the DS2MB service touching the UNCPassword Metabase setting erroneously.
